Storm Water Permit Comments Due Monday Noon

Hi everyone!

This is a heads up that Storm Water Permit Comments are due at noon tomorrow
to the Regional Board.  In general it is an excellent permit for storm
water, but it is horrible (in my view) in that it allows for summer
irrigation runoff based on the future development of Best Management
Practices (BMP’s).   If you can email the parties below expressing your
concern, that would be a big help.

The comments are due four days before the staff report and response to
comments is released on the Basin Plan Amendment to allow incidental runoff.
(They don’t use that term anymore.  They euphemistically call it “non storm
water runoff”.) Please send an email expressing concern on these points
before noon tomorrow.  (Contact info below)

Also, my comments are about 80% done.  If anyone wants a copy of my
comments, please let me know.  I prefer not to release them until complete
but will consider exceptions to those who could make good use of them.

The following was noticed by Regional Board:

Santa Rosa – Sonoma County MS4 NPDES Storm Water Permit

On May 22, 2009, the Regional Water Board released a second draft of the
Storm Water Permit for Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, and the Sonoma County
Water Agency. The draft Permit and attachments can be found at the Board’s
website. The comment period was extended and comments are now due on July 6,
2009 at 12:00 PM.

The Regional Water Board will hold a public meeting on July 22-23, 2009, to
discuss the draft Permit and another public meeting on October 1, 2009, to
consider adoption of the draft Permit. Both meetings will be held at the
Regional Water Board office; for more information, please review the public
notice here:

(I believe that their agenda said they may adopt the draft permit. The
agenda should also be at their web site.  Google North Coast Regional Water
Quality Control Board.)

On storm water permit, direct comments to Mona Dougherty at North Coast
Regional Board  before July 6th.  (

On the Basin Plan Amendment, direct comments to Lauren Clyde at North Coast
Reg. Bd. (
Basin Plan comments are on the website and responses should become available
on July 10th)
