WHERE’S THE WATER?
EDITOR: It seems to me that the Santa Rosa City Council is on the
wrong track when members are more concerned about low-income housing
than water (“SR council sees new general plan,” Sept. 23).
We are being asked to conserve water with a population of about
158,000. The general plan estimates population growth of about 76,000
people, an increase of 48 percent to 233,500 by 2035. Where are we
going to get that much more water?
The Sonoma County Water Agency may have rights to more water from
Lake Sonoma, but what good is that if there is no way to deliver it
to the customers? Perhaps the City Council had best give some thought
to a reduction in building permits until we have an adequate water
supply.
