Clean Water Network Support Letter for Green Infrastructure–H.R. 4202

March 26th, 2010 Brought to you by Clean Water Network, the largest national coalition in the country working to protect ALL of the waters of the U.S., including the nation’s Great Waters, rivers, streams, lakes, bays, estuaries, coastal areas and wetlands.

Today, the Clean Water Network submitted to Members of Congress, a letter of strong support for HR 4202, the Green Infrastructure for Clean Water Act of 2009.  The letter was signed by more than 65 national, state and local organizations that work to protect America’s precious water resources.

HR 4202 will provide critical support for green infrastructure strategies, improve our ability to effectively manage polluted runoff and sewage overflows and relieve pressure on our nation’s aging infrastructure systems. We urge all Members of Congress to support this bill, which will play a critical role in the development of America’s 21st century sustainable infrastructure.HR 4202 will provide critical support for green infrastructure strategies, improve our ability to effectively manage polluted runoff and sewage overflows and relieve pressure on our nation’s aging infrastructure systems. Thanks to all of the organizations that signed on to the support letter. We did mention in our cover note to Congressional staff that now that Congress has completed its work on health care, it is time to work on what some are calling, universal health care for our nation’s waters.  The time is long overdue for Congress to start focusing attention on two of the Network’s key clean water priorities, Green infrastructure and the Clean Water Restoration Act.
