Legislation Announced to Hold Oil Companies Fully Accountable for Spills
Senator Menendez (D-NJ) introduced two important pieces of legislation earlier this week, the Big Oil Bailout Prevention Liability Act of 2010 (S. 3305) and the Big Oil Bailout Prevention Trust Fund Act of 2010 (S. 3306); both bills would require oil companies to pay for the full cost of oil spills.
U.S. Representative Rush Holt (NJ-12) introduced similar legislation (H.R. 5214) in the House on Wednesday.
