Dear Larry,
The SalmonAid Festival is back! For 2010, SalmonAid is hosting September Salmon Month at theAquarium of the Bay in San Francisco. It’s off to a rollicking good start, and we’d like to invite you to join us and have a drink and watch a movie (or two) to help save wild salmon!
SalmonAid is collaborating with the largest environmental film festival in North America to present a special Salmon Cinema & Native Storytelling Circle this Wednesday evening, September 15 at 6pm.
Start the evening strolling through the Aquarium of the Bay after hours enjoying sustainably caught seafood from Fish Restaurant and organic salmon-themed cocktails courtesy of Organic Nation Spirits.
The Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival will then screen some of the most compelling and dramatic films that bring the wild salmon crises and opportunities into focus. Films will feature communities from Alaska fighting mining operations proposed in the headwaters of the world’s strongest salmon rivers to the people behind the effort to remove the four Klamath River dams.
In addition to the films, indigenous leaders will offer stories – both traditional salmon lore and tales of modern-day healing and collaboration for salmon recovery. Storytellers include Hoopa tribal activists Merv and Poppy George of the Klamath River Basin, and Don Ryberg, the tribal Chair of the Tsi-Akim Maidu who will speak about the Calling Back the Salmon Ceremony in the Yuba River watershed.
Tickets ($15 in advance) and more information can be found here www.salmonaid.org.
Please join us for this premier event of SalmonAid’s Salmon Month at Aquarium of the Bay!
