Invitation to Clean Water Week, Mar. 1-2, D.C.

Dear Activists,

I am writing to invite you to attend Clean Water Week (CWW), Clean Water Network’s signature event, which is scheduled for March 1-2, 2011 in Washington, DC. This biennial national conference is a time for clean water experts from across the country to network with colleagues, participate in policy discussions and attend topic specific training. The event includes informative panel discussions, work group meetings to form action plans and abundant networking opportunities.

Sessions at Clean Water Week 2011 will include:

  • “EPA Blows Up Industry’s Plan to Blow Up a Mountain” – Is this the death knell for mountain top removal mining?
  • Clean Water Priority Issues – Waters of the US Guidance/Rulemaking; EPA Stormwater Rule; Numeric Nutrient Standards
  • Discussion and Q&A on 2012 Farm Bill
  • Hydraulic Fracturing
  • Abandoned Mine Drainage & Good Samaritan Legislation

CWW will also feature a lobby day for participants to meet with Members of Congress and their staff to discuss important clean water issues.  On Wednesday March 2nd we have scheduled a meeting with EPA Office of Water staff to discuss key regulatory issues and hope to schedule a meeting with the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ).  On Wednesday we will also host a Mississippi River Basin Capitol Hill Briefing.

We still have some travel funding available, and you can apply for scholarship funding when you register.  You can view the latest draft agenda here and a registration form is attached to this message.  Feel free to forward this invitation to other colleagues working on water issues.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions.  Hope to see you at Clean Water Week!

– Jennifer
