Sonoma County’s Climate Action Plan Found Deficient by Court

In a case contested by River Watch, the court found that Sonoma County’s Climate Action Plan violated CEQA due to insufficient information, failed to include effective enforceable standards for the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, and failed to develop and fully analyze alternatives.

The court ruled there is insufficient information in the administrative record to support the factual conclusion that the Climate Action Plan will achieve its fundamental purpose of reducing countrywide GHG emissions to the stated target of 25% below 1990 levels by 2020.

California River Watch attorney, Jerry Bernhaut, argued the case for the petitioner.
