Update on S. 787, The Clean Water Restoration Act

FYI,

S. 787, The Clean Water Restoration Act, was introduced by Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) on April 2nd. The Clean Water Act was passed in order to restore the chemical, physical and biological integrity of our nation’s waters. This cannot be done if a host of our streams and many of our wetlands lack federal protection. S. 787 would reaffirm the Clean Water Act’s original intentions of protecting all waters of the United States. Next step for this bill is a markup in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Stay tuned for more updates on the scheduling of that markup. Also a big round of thanks to everyone who called their Senators’ offices on April 28th, National Clean Water Call-In Day. Your phone calls had an impact because the anti-Clean Water members of the Senate EPW committee sent a letter to Senator Boxer requesting her to delay the mark-up of the bill.
