Hello Folks,
I hope everyone had a great Holiday season and is looking forward to
2011. The end of 2010 marks the one year anniversary of the Jenner
Headlands acquisition. We, at Sonoma Land Trust and The Wildlands
Conservancy, have been very busy since then, and I’d like to invite
you to our annual Community Meeting on January 29th at the Jenner
Community Center. We are excited to share the news of what we have
learned about the Jenner Headlands over the last year – about the
plants, animals, watershed health, geology and cultural resources. We
also want to let you know what we’ve learned from the 800+ hikers who
participated in our guided hikes program last year. In 2011 we will
finalize our management plan for the property, and we want to let you
know what is in store for this year – and the additional
opportunities we have developed for getting more people out on the
property. We are also looking forward to hearing from you and will
have ample time for questions and comments.
Date: January 29, 2011
Time: 4-5:30
Location: Jenner Community Center, 10432 Hwy 1, behind the
gas station and over the bridge. Parking is limited, so please
carpool if you can.
We look forward to sharing these 2010 highlights:
* The biologically diverse serpentine wildflower fields,
* The rare animals that call the Headlands home,
* The diverse assemblage of grassland birds, including what we
found during the fall raptor migration,
* The intricate and rich geology of the Headlands,
* Results from our largest guided hike series ever — nearly 800
hikers had the chance to experience this incredible landscape.
